Jamie Furniss discuss “Recyclers” at TEDxYYC 2011. Jamie was born in Whitehorse and grew up in the North. After attending Pearson College in Victoria, he studied common law and droit civil at the University of Ottawa. Since winning a Rhodes scholarship in 2006, he has been working on a Ph.D in international development at Oxford. He lived in Egypt for nearly 2 years, studying Arabic and learning about Cairo’s garbage collectors.
TEDx was created in the spirit of TED’s mission, “ideas worth spreading.” It supports independent organizers who want to create a TED-like event in their own community. The TEDx Program is designed to help communities, organizations and individuals to spark conversation and connection through local TED-like experiences. TEDx events are planned and coordinated independently, under a free license granted by TED.
